In the News: Adulterated Herbal Products Recalled
Two herbal products used to treat cancer and stimulate the immune system, PC SPES and SPES, have been found to be adulterated with warfarin and alprazolam, respectively. PC SPES most commonly is used for prostate cancer, but SPES is used for various cancers and may be taken by women.
BotanicLab, the manufacturer of the products, voluntarily has recalled PC SPES and SPES nationwide. Consumers should return unused SPES and PC SPECS capsules (in original packaging) to: PC SPES Recall Program, 2900-B Saturn St., Brea, CA 92821 BotanicLab also may be reached by phone: (800) 458-5854.
