Restraint and Seclusion Made Easy
By Dana Spector, Associate Managing Editor, AHC Media
How confident are you in the compliance of your restraint and conclusion policies? If a CMS surveyor arrived at your hospital tomorrow, how would your facility perform?
CMS considers restraint and seclusion critical. Hospitals often are out of compliance because restraint policy is one of the hardest to write and understand. Hospitals must follow CMS guidelines if the facility owns a TJC, AOA, CIHQ, or DNV Healthcare accreditation. All accrediting bodies require restraint training, and CMS mandates both orientation and ongoing hospital staff education. Has your hospital followed suit?
AHC Media’s live webinar, “Restraint and Seclusion: CMS, DNV, & TJC Guidelines and Standards,” on Sept. 13, will help attendees understand the 50 pages of CMS restraint and seclusion interpretive guidelines while also providing a crosswalk to other accrediting standards.
