AHA will favor vendors that offer insurance to workers As part of a national effort to expand coverage to as many people as possible, the American Hospital Association (AHA) and the National Association of Public Hospitals & Health Systems (NAPH) have notified contractors that they prefer to do business with companies that provide health insurance to employees. The initiative, dubbed Health Competition, was first developed and implemented in New York by the Healthcare Association of New York State and local labor leaders. AHA spends an average of $45 million on vendors annually. NAPH spends about $750,000 on vendor contracts.
