Michigan heart group shares procedures data
Need to benchmark cardiac surgery procedures? A group of Michigan hospitals has published some volume statistics on its cardiovascular procedures that might help you identify a likely benchmarking partner.
The Southeast Michigan Regional Heart Consortium (SMRHC) in October released its Cardiac Services Information Guide, which reflects the volume levels of cardiovascular procedures for its hospitals and affiliated physicians. A total of 12 hospitals voluntarily offered this information to share data on various heart procedures.
The Cardiac Services Information Guide is the first step in tracking hospitals and physicians heart care performance. It specifically provides information on diagnostic catheterizations, angioplasties, by-pass graft surgeries and electrophysiology studies in terms of volumes. The guide also includes information on physician certification and experience.
The participating hospitals include: Harper Hospital; Henry Ford Hospital; Mount Clemens General Hospital; Oakwood Hospital and Medical Center; Port Huron Hospital; Providence Hospital; St. John Hospital and Medical Center; St. Joseph Mercy Hospital Ann Arbor and Oakland; Sinai Hospital; University of Michigan Health System, and William Beaumont Hospital.
The guide is available by calling the Greater Detroit Area Health Council at (313) 963-4990.
