Nutrition Therapy act won’t impact home IV

The recently introduced Medicare Medical Nutrition Therapy Act of 1997 isn’t likely to infringe on current reimbursement for nutrition, such as TPN.

A spokesperson for the American Dietetic Association told Home Infusion Therapy Management that the purpose of the bill (HR1375 and S597) is to allow for Medicare Part B reimbursement of nutritional services provided by registered dietitians and nutrition professionals, services not currently reimbursed under Medicare Part B. The legislation will not change the reimbursement of existing nutrition services or require the use of nutrition professionals to receive reimbursement.
