OIG proposes revisions and technical corrections
The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Office of Inspector General (OIG) published a proposed rule Oct. 20 that proposes revisions and technical changes in a number of areas relating to Medicaid state health care programs and the OIG's fraud and abuse enforcement.
The proposed revisions include revisions to the definition of the term item or service and changes in the reinstatement procedures relating to exclusions resulting from a default on health education or scholarship obligation. It also makes a number of technical corrections to the current regulations and makes various clarifications in the OIG’s existing regulatory authority. The proposed rule carries a 30-day comment period.
