Hot news: HIPAA’s final rules released
The Department of Health and Human Services in Washington, DC, has issued its final rules for the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA). The rules list case managers under covered "atypical services." That means case managers will be held strictly accountable for protecting the privacy of their patients as they share information with providers and others. The rule has significant consequences for e-health, legality and liability, and the practice of case management in the 21st century.
