Want your physicians to reach their full potential? CME is the answer. Don’t take our word for it. (We might be a little biased.) Hear what the American Hospital Association had to say: “CME allows physicians to reach their full potential both as caregivers and leaders of the healthcare field,” said AHA Senior Vice President John Combes, MD.
That opinion is backed by a report recently released by the AHA’s Physician Leadership Forum on the value of CME to hospitals. The report said CME helps physician continuously improve and learn, which helps address gaps in their professional practice. Hospitals and physicians are having to adapt to a healthcare system that is in constant transition, and CME can help them in that quest, the report says.
Among other recommendations, the report says hospitals and health systems should develop CME physician champions who get the staff involved. These physician leaders also should encourage their hospitals to look at data from community health assessments. This data can be used to decide what population health issues to include in CME, the report says. The report “Continuing Medical Education as a Strategic Resource,” is available at www.ahaphysicianforum.com.
Regardless of what health issues your population is facing, consider the CME offered by AHC Media, publisher of this blog. We have CME publications that address primary care, internal medicine, cardiology, OB/GYN, integrative medicine, neurology, critical care, emergency medicine, trauma, pediatric emergency medicine, infectious disease, and institutional review boards. It’s a CME smorgasbord! To see a list of comprehensive list of our CME products, click here. For more information on the benefits of CME and CNE, see our blog “Want to save millions? We could tell you reasons your physicians should get CME, but one of our subscribers to Emergency Medicine Reports said it best: “I am better equipped to provide up-to-date treatment to my patients -- helps keep up with ever-evolving medicine!” That’s what we call reaching for your full potential.
