  • Success for surgery centers! Deletions to ASC list reduced from 100 to five

    Instead of deleting 100 procedures from the list of procedures approved by Medicare for ambulatory surgery centers (ASCs), the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) will delete only five procedures for which it received no comments, based on an interim final rule that has been published.

    Terrorists may be behind a recent spate of incidents in which people pose as accreditation surveyors, doctors, or government officials to gain access to hospitals.     A preliminary analysis of data collected on 246,552 breast implant procedures performed in facilities accredited by the American Association for Accreditation of Ambulatory Surgery Facilities (AAAASF) in Gurnee, IL, shows a high level of safety for patients undergoing the procedure in outpatient settings.
