This presentation will discuss human trafficking victims as patients who present within the healthcare system and will give you the tools to identify and care for them.
Human trafficking is a worldwide phenomenon that is underappreciated domestically. The victims are a varied group that defy most stereotypes but can be recognized once they enter the healthcare system because of the particular patterns they exhibit, assuming you're looking for the right thing and know the right questions to ask.
Policy changes at a federal level have made new resources available to this vulnerable population. As the people on the front lines, you play a critical role in identifying these patients and connecting them with life-line services such as healthcare, legal aid and help navigating their immigration status.
