In this first installment of Pearls and Pitfalls, Dr. Tucci will present real-world case examples of various neurologic and psychiatric presentations, ranging from altered mental status, frank psychosis, and generalized weakness to fatigue and dizziness/lightheadedness. She will take you on a journey, showing you how a lawyer thinks while dissecting the electronic medical record and highlighting common mistakes that emergency providers make, which can leave them vulnerable to a malpractice claim. Dr. Tucci will also offer techniques to improve documentation of history and physical examination findings as well as differential diagnosis and medical decision making.

Dr. Tucci is assistant professor at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston. She is a Board Certified Emergency Medicine Physician who works at Ben Taub General Hospital Emergency Center, a high-volume, Level 1 trauma center. Dr. Tucci is a medico-legal consultant, educator and mentor for nurses, physicians, residents, medical students, paramedics/EMTs, physician assistants and premedical students.
