    EMTALA Update 2016:
    Deficiencies, Problematic Standards &
    Practitioner Liability 2-Part Series
Speaker: Sue Dill Calloway, RN, MSN, JD   Code: T160006
Duration: 2 webinars (120 min. each)   Format: On-Demand

CMS issued a memo reporting that more than 2,667 hospitals received deficiencies for failure to comply with EMTALA. This two-part webinar will include the regulations and interpretive guidelines from all 12 sections, the expanded section for on-call physicians, and outline the shared and community care plan process.

The federal EMTALA law and the accompanying regulations are complex. This program is structured to make the requirements understandable with liberal use of examples.

Hospitals must ensure their policies, procedures, and training are adequate to certify compliance with EMTALA, including the memos on Ebola, telemedicine, and billing. The hospital must know how to conduct a medical screening exam, how to stabilize a patient, and what constitutes an emergency medical condition. Hospitals also must be aware of how EMTALA can affect obstetrical and behavioral health patients.

Is your hospital doing everything it can?
