    EMTALA Series
Speaker: Sue Dill Calloway, RN, MSN, JD    Code: T180005
Duration: 3 webinars (120 mins. each)    Format: On-Demand

A recent CMS deficiency memo found more than 3,687 hospitals failed to comply with the EMTALA law, making EMTALA deficiencies the most problematic standards for hospitals. Join our expert in this three-part webinar series as she reviews EMTALA regulations, interpretive guidelines, and the Office of Inspector General's proposed changes, which will have an effect on on-call physicians. The series will cover all 12 sections of the law, in addition to the expanded section for on-call physicians, and it will outline the shared and community care plan processes.

Offering real-world EMTALA violation examples, the series will cover the AnMed Health $1.3 million dollar settlement, the largest EMTALA settlement to date. It is anticipated that healthcare will see larger EMTALA fines following this South Carolina case. Our expert will review what precautions hospitals can put in place to prevent EMTALA litigations.

The series will also discuss the Moses v. Providence Hospital and Medical Centers, Inc., case, where the court overruled the CMS regulation that EMTALA obligations end when the hospital admits a patient in good faith. This case illustrates the importance of understanding how case laws can impact the outcome of EMTALA litigation.

The EMTALA law and the accompanying regulations are complex and difficult to comprehend. The series is structured to make the requirements understandable and to protect you and your organization from liabilities.

Make sure your ED implemented necessary policies & procedures!
