LGBTQ adolescents are a vulnerable population at greater risk than their heterosexual peers for mental illness, substance abuse, bullying/victimization, eating disorders, and in some cases, HIV. Thus the need to focus on the mental health and physical health outcomes for LGBTQ adolescents. The goal of this Webinar is to expand the participant's knowledge and understanding about the social, mental health, and physical health issues they face.
Throughout the course learners will acquire knowledge and communication skills to facilitate caring for LGBTQ Adolescents. Includes expanding the understanding of the social, mental health and physical health challenges faced by them. While also developing a toolkit of resources to improve health outcomes. Many physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, registered nurses, and behavioral health providers miss opportunities to address the social, physical and mental health needs of LGBTQ adolescents. This course will attempt to bridge that knowledge gap and bring awareness to an under-served community.
