Obesity Management Holistic Approach
There has been a sharp rise in the prevalence of obesity over the last 20 years in the US, with over a third of adults being affected by obesity. Adults living with obesity are at higher risk of cardiovascular, endocrine, respiratory, musculoskeletal, gastrointestinal, genitourinary, neurological and psychological disorders. Therefore, there are high demands on healthcare services and professionals to take effective actions in order to tackle this major global health concern. This requires an evidence-based consistent approach across all areas of health care. However, the extent of education and training programs available to health professionals does not match the enormous burden of obesity-related conditions imposed on them. Establishing comprehensive multidisciplinary strategies that target obesity at all levels of prevention and care would result in substantial outcome improvement.
