This course would aid in management of critically ill patients afflicted with this novel virus and improve their current knowledge, skill, and practice deficits. Including information to improve ventilator management, post-ventilator management, and the approach to the severely hypoxic COVID-19 patient. Additionally, our presenter will discuss the importance of PPE, risk factors for ARDS, use of Nebulizers, intubation considerations and much more.

    Learning Objectives:

    • Describe why COVID-19 patients develop hypoxia.
    • Explain ventilator management in these patients including oxygenation targets, as well as timing and methods of intubation. 
    • Optimize the supply and learn the importance of PPE. 


    Your Speaker: Dr. Phil DiGiacomo

    PhilDiGiacomo

    Dr. DiGiacomo is a board-certified Emergency Medicine physician currently living and practicing in Chicago, IL. His academic background includes an Undergraduate B.S. degree from Villanova University in Villanova, PA. Obtained his M.D. from Sidney Kimmel Medical College (Formerly Jefferson Medical College) in Philadelphia, PA. He went on to complete his Emergency Medicine residency at University of North Carolina Hospitals in Chapel Hill, NC. Also Nominated as Chief Resident during his time at UNCC. Currently practices full-time in the Emergency Department and his career spans various positions including as a Healthcare Consultant, Subject Matter Clinical Expert, and in the field of Utilization Management.
