CHIP enrollment doubles
The latest survey data from the Kaiser Commission on Medicaid and the Un-insured indicates that Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) enrollment more than doubled in the one-year period from December 1998 to December 1999.
Based on data reported by the states, the number of children enrolled in CHIPs increased from 833,303 to 1.7 million, an annual increase of 112%. Kaiser officials say the increase in enrollment numbers was roughly the same for both the first and last six months of the period.
