  • Mifepristone as a Treatment Option for Adenomyosis

    This multicenter, placebo-controlled, double-blind randomized clinical trial was conducted in 10 hospitals in China and enrolled 134 patients with diagnosed adenomyosis to evaluate mifepristone as an effective treatment for adenomyosis pain symptoms. Among the intervention group, 98.1% had total remission of adenomyosis pain symptoms as well as improved secondary outcomes with no serious adverse events. Mifepristone is promising for treating pain from adenomyosis.

  • Contraceptives Can Alleviate Menstrual Cramping and Endometriosis Pain

    Research suggests hormonal intrauterine devices (IUDs) can relieve pelvic pain and endometriosis. One recent study revealed that levonorgestrel IUDs can improve endometriosis and ovarian function when combined with gonadotropin-releasing hormone agonists. They also can alleviate the symptoms of sexual intercourse pain and dysmenorrhea and control the risk of postoperative recurrence.

  • Cinnamon for Dysmenorrhea: A Clinical Trial

    Cinnamon, three grams daily, for the first few days of menstruation may help attenuate menstrual pain in women suffering from dysmenorrhea, although an improved follow-up clinical trial is necessary to corroborate this.
