Meet the Experts

Joy Daughtery Dickinson is executive editor of the Hospital Group of publications at AHC Media in Atlanta and long-time editor and writer of Same-Day Surgery As an AHC Media editor since 1991, Joy has had responsibility for hospital topics including risk management, reimbursement, case management, surgery, hospice, emergency department, patient education, hospital access, medical ethics, and many more. She has won five national awards from the Specialized Information Publishers Association (SIPA) for her writing and editing. Prior to becoming an editor at AHC Media in 1991, she was city editor at The Augusta (GA) Chronicle and the now-defunct Augusta Herald. Joy received a bachelor's degree in journalism from the Henry Grady School of Journalism at the University of Georgia. She makes her home in southwest Georgia with her daughter and their cat, which tolerates her telecommuting as long as it receives regular treats.
Russ Underwood is executive editor of new product development at AHC Media, where he has either written or edited more than 20 hospital publications, including Hospital Case Management and Hospital Peer Review. He received a BA in English from the University of South Carolina and an MS in communication from Cornell University.
Jill Drachenberg is associate managing editor of new product development and has primary responsibility for editing Hospital Peer Review. A graduate of Georgia State University with a bachelor’s degree in print journalism, she previously worked as lead reporter at Gwinnett Business Journal and assistant editor at Asian Hospitality magazine.
Leslie Hamlin is managing editor of the emergency medicine group at AHC Media, where she has edited more than 10 newsletters in the clinical, hospital, and emergency group, including ED Legal Letter and Neurology Alert. She studied English at Loyola University, Chicago.
