    Editors note: Abdominal pain is a common presenting complaint in the emergency department (ED). The frequency of malpractice cases concerning abdominal pain is staggering. Due to the large volume of misadventures encountered and the unique disease processes in adult, pediatric, and obstetric/gynecologic emergencies, each will be covered separately.
