Another way to bring disparate data together
McKesson HBOC has a new Web-based management tool for health care executives. WebTREND incorporates data from decision support as well as operational systems, HTML documents, and other external sources. The company says it will allow managers to evaluate business performance on a routine basis.
The product was piloted at SUNY-Upstate Medical University, a teaching hospital in Syracuse, NY, with approximately 350 licensed beds and 14,000 admissions annually.
According to Steven DeFazio, SUNY’s director of decision support systems, WebTREND helps the decision support and other sources and pushes more than 600 reports out to approximately 200 users.
"WebTREND will enable us to put more power in the hands of those who want to manipulate the data and examine different sorting and drill-down views," he says.
Among the key features of the program are automatic alerts for managers on issues that may require immediate attention.
The alerts are sent through the organization’s e-mail system and include data interpretations and interactive graphs.
WebTREND also includes personalized Web page views, customized data highlights, interactive analysis, secure intranet access, and data feeds from multiple sources.
