Web site on long-term care premieres
Interviews with former First Lady Rosalynn Carter on caregiving, and with Dr. Jay Luxenberg on new trends in Alzheimer’s treatments, are highlighted on Family Caregiver Alliance’s (FCA) new World Wide Web site, at http://www.caregiver.org.
The redesigned site is part of FCA’s year-long celebration of its 20th anniversary. The site has a search function and contains the following departments, all focused on long-term health care issues:
• News Bureau: background information for reporters doing stories on long-term care; cognitive disorders such as Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s, and stroke; work and eldercare; and other aging-related concerns.
• Interviews: Experts speak on the issues of long-term care, and readers can respond.
• Public policy: timely updates and legislative alerts such as new bills, budget items, and other information that consumers need to follow.
• Clearinghouse: fact sheets, statistics, newsletter, overview of adult-onset brain disorders, and other information in this department.
• Resource center: on-line "Ask the Experts" help for family caregivers, professional advice, assistance in locating community resources, an on-line support group, and help with long-term care planning.
• Links: recommendations and links to best sites chosen by a panel of experts.
• Headlines: home page links that will alert readers to new entries.
