ORYX noncompliance will be penalized
Now that ORYX data collection is under way, noncompliance with the Joint Commission's initiative on performance measurement will result in a special Type I recommendation, according to the agency. The recommendation must be cleared within two months to avoid jeopardizing accreditation status. If you have questions regarding any facet of the initiative, call the ORYX information line at (630) 792-5085.
The Joint Commission is sponsoring a series of education programs titled "How to Get the Most Out of Your ORYX Data" that will provide participants with information on how to analyze comparative data, turn it into valuable information, and communicate the data in a meaningful way. Participants will review the present requirements and learn how the Joint Commission plans to use ORYX data in the accreditation process. Instruction will focus on:
· Becoming familiar with statistical process control theory. Attendees will participate in hands-on analyses of control charts that demonstrate an organization's performance over time.
· Reviewing examples of comparison charts that show how an organization is performing relative to other organizations using the same measures.
· Learning what data the Joint Commission will receive from an organization's selected performance measurement system and what organizations should expect from their chosen systems.
The programs will be offered on the following dates:
· Oct. 8-9 - Smithtown, NY (Long Island)
· Dec. 17-18 - San Antonio.
