Reichman honored with Ross Medal
Lee B. Reichman, MD, MPH, director of the National Tuberculosis Center at the New Jersey Medical School in Newark and a member of TB Monitor’s editorial advisory board, has been chosen as this year’s recipient of the Will Ross Medal.
The highest award bestowed by the American Lung Association (ALA), the prize is given in memory of Will Ross, a past president of the ALA, onetime TB patient, and ALA volunteer.
Reichman has served as president of the ALA chapter of New Jersey from 1984 to 1986, as principal investigator in several scientific studies funded by the ALA and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and as president of the American Thoracic Society from 1982 to 1984.
From 1971 to 1974, he served as director of TB control and assistant commissioner of health for the New York City health department. In addition, he was director of the pulmonary diseases division of the department of medicine at the New Jersey Medical School and vice chair of the executive committee of the International Union Against Tuberculosis and Lung Disease.
