Department of Energy Medical Applications
The United States Department of Energy is accepting applications for research on imaging gene expression in real-time in human tissue and animals in vivo. Proposals are expected to focus on research areas that are keyed to progress in the field of real time gene expression imaging, such as radioligand molecules that will interact with macromolecular nucleic acid structures in vivo, the development of molecular signal amplification methods that work in vivo at the level mRNA, improvements in drug targeting technology, the development of fluorescence molecular imaging technology for routine in vivo screening, and in vivo real-time imaging. The funds available range from $200,000 to $400,000 over a three-year period and are available to researchers at United States colleges, universities, and research institutions.
