Faulding to market eedleless IV system
Following the recent approval by the Food and Drug Administration, Faulding Medical Device Co. planned to manufacture and market its Safe-Connect Valve needleless intravenous connectors in January.
Faulding’s sales and promotion manager, Steve Jokela, says the system will be price competitive to other needleless systems.
"We plan on being extremely cost-competitive with existing systems and offer advantages they don’t have for the same amount of money," he says. "We will certainly not be more expensive."
The feature unique to Safe-Connect over all other systems, says Jokela, is that it is the only swabable, aspirating back-check valve on the market. This allows fluid to flow in both directions when a syringe or intravenous device is detached but prevents backflow upon removal. "Another device has a back-check feature but is not a swabable device," notes Jokela.
