Handbook available on construction safety
Handbook available on construction safety
The National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) is making available a handbook on worker safety in residential construction.
The 26-page booklet offers a pictorial guide to safe work practices in residential construction. Using easy-to-understand language, the booklet explains what builders must do to comply with federal safety requirements for the most hazardous activities in home building. Photographs and drawings illustrate the way to perform common tasks safely and avoid hazards often found at residential building sites. Topics include employee training, protective equipment, housekeeping, stairs and ladders, scaffolds, fall protection, excavations, and trenching.
The booklet is endorsed by the federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration in Washington, DC. Single copies of the Jobsite Safety Handbook are available for free from regional OSHA offices. For multiple copies, contact the NAHB, 1201 15th St., NW, Washington, DC 20005. Telephone: (800) 368-5242, Ext. 226.
