NCQA unveils new consumer report
The National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) has released a new report prototype that, beginning next year, will provide consumers and employers with more detail than ever before on managed care organizations' performance on key dimensions of care and service.
"With the new report format, we're giving consumers and employers answers to their most important health plan questions," says NCQA President Margaret E. O'Kane. "How well will this plan take care of me if I get sick? Will I be able to get in to see my doctor or specialist? Can I expect good care and service?"
Localized reports show how well participating plans fare in such critical areas as access and service, checking on provider qualifications, promoting preventive care, treating illnesses and managing chronic conditions.
