CMS releases tips for HIPAA risk analysis
Organizations looking for additional guidance on risk analysis and management can find a new educational paper on the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) web site.
CMS recently released, Basics of Risk Analysis and Risk Management, the sixth paper in its series of seven planned security papers about Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
The latest paper reviews HIPAA security rule’s required implementation specifications for risk analysis and risk management, as well as the basic concepts and general steps involved.
Go to www.cms.hhs.gov/hipaa/hipaa2/education. Under the heading "Security Educational Material," choose "Basics of Risk Analysis and Risk Management."
