• The Managed Care Information Center (Allenwood, NJ) has produced the Healthcare IS/IT Market Yearbook, which covers the business needs of healthcare and managed care organizations. Included are market projections, business strategies, the use of computerized patient records, the use of Internet and intranet technologies in healthcare, and trends in the use of IT in healthcare. The yearbook is indexed by company and by market activity.
• NDC Health Information Services (Atlanta) has introduced the first web-based data warehousing service for anesthesiologists. NDC’s System 2000 Data Warehousing provides access to billing and diagnostic data by anesthesiologists who are members of the program. NDC Health Information is a unit of National Data Corp., a provider of health information services and electronic commerce solutions.
• Next Dimension Imaging (Longmont, CO) has intro duced a family of turnkey clinical cardiology software products based on three-dimensional ultrasound imaging methods. The products include 3D PlaneView and 3D LV-View, which are driven by an ultrafast plane reconstruction engine for stacks of non-parallel images and combined with virtual reality modeling techniques to provide a new dimension in cardiac diagnostic imaging.
• Physician Micro Systems (Seattle) has added web browser capabilities to its recently released Practice Partner patient records systems (version 7). This electronic medical record program is aimed at alternate care sites, primarily physicians’ offices. The approach of this module allows caregivers to download remote HTML documents and load them into a local repository, then make them available on the practice’s intranet, eliminating the time and need to connect to the Internet to browse content.
• Respironics (Pittsburgh) said it has received FDA clearance of its Synergy Event Software for use with the company’s SmartMonitor infant monitoring system. The software is Windows 95, Windows 98 and Windows NT compatible and allows for graphical display and customization of patient information.
