• American Management Systems (AMS; Fairfax, VA) said Carillion Health System (Roanoke, VA) has achieved full production operations with AMS’s healthcare document management and workflow application, AccountLink. The implementation includes document management hardware and software from FileNET, and supports centralized billing operations for 65 physician practices in 80 locations in western Virginia and the Shenan doah Valley.
• Askesis Development Group (Chicago) said the Menninger Clinic has signed a license agreement for the PsychConsult Provider software product.
• CareFacts Information Systems (St. Paul, MN) has signed contracts with the Monroe County Health Department (Monroe, MI) and the University of Minnesota. CareFacts is providing its CareFacts Clinical point-of-care software for both clients, and additionally its CareFacts Billing and CareFacts Scheduling software for the Monroe County department.
• Health Systems Design (HSD; Oakland, CA) said it has signed a license agreement with Blue Shield of California to implement HSD’s Diamond 950C/S software system as part of an overhaul of Blue Shield’s core information technology system. The first phase of the project is expected to go live during 3Q99.
• Lernout & Hauspie (L&H; Burlington, MA) and MedQuist (Marlton, NJ) said they have installed the Clinical Voice Station for trial tests in the emergency medicine department of Quincy Hospital (Quincy, MA). The Critical Voice Station is an integrated medical documentation solution combining L&H’s speech recognition technology and specialized medical knowledge bases with MedQuist’s clinical workstation transcription system.
• The Med Data Division of SunGard Healthcare (Vista, CA) has signed contracts to provide its MedRec II for Windows medical record management system to eight organizations. The new sites include Lancaster Cardiology Medical Group (Lancaster, CA), Community Hospital of Los Gatos (Los Gatos, CA), Anaheim General Hospital (Anaheim, CA), Houston Northwest Medical Center (Houston, TX), Medical Center of Manchester (Manchester, TN), Western Medical Center (Anaheim, CA), Affiliated Internists (Detroit), and Dickinson County Healthcare Systems (Iron Mountain, MI).
• OAO HealthCare Solutions (Chatsworth, CA), a subsidiary of OAO Technology Solutions, has licensed its MC400 information management system to NJ Car Group Insurance Trust Fund (Trenton, NJ), which provides health benefits to 9,000 auto dealership employees throughout New Jersey.
• QuadraMed (Richmond, CA) has signed five-year agreements with two unnamed integrated delivery networks in the Canadian province of Saskatchewan to provide a full range of enterprisewide solutions. The contract is expected to generate about $8 million in revenues.
• Vanstar (Atlanta) said it has signed a contract to provide Harvard Pilgrim Health Care (Brookline, MA), New England’s largest HMO, with an integrated computing environment including forecasting, management and integration services; hardware procurement, implementation and on-site consulting services. The contract involves some 9,000 workstations and is expected to generate $45 million in revenues. Harvard Pilgrim provides coverage to 1.4 million members in four New England states.
