• Kathy White has been named chief information officer and executive vice president for Cardinal Health (Dublin, OH), effective April 5. She will replace Phil Greth, who is retiring from those positions, which he has held since 1995. White joins Cardinal from Allegiance, which merged with Cardinal earlier this month. Cardinal is a provider of a broad range of healthcare information technology and support services.
• David Spellmeyer, PhD, has been promoted from director of the Molecular Design Group of CombiChem (San Diego) to vice president of computational chemistry and molecular design. CombiChem is a computational discovery company using its design technology to accelerate the new drugs and chemical products.
• Steve Curd has been named executive vice president and chief operating officer for Healtheon (Santa Clara, CA), a provider of advanced Internet-based solutions for the healthcare industry. Additionally, Steve Smith has been named executive vice president of worldwide sales. Curd joins Health eon from UnitedHealth Group, where he served as the chief information officer of that company’s Uniprise division. Smith joins Healtheon after serving as a vice president of sales for HBO & Co..
• Jim Crook has been promoted from vice president to president and chief operating officer of IDX Systems (Burlington, VT), a provider of healthcare information systems solutions. Crook has been a senior member of the IDX management team for 15 years and over the last three years was the chief operating officer of IDX’s Radiology Imaging Solutions Division.
• Maura Davis, RN, has been named director of clinical informatics at IMA Technologies (Sacramento, CA), a developer of infrastructure systems for case management processes. Davis was formerly a consultant partner with NorthEast Case Trakker.
• Linda Sullivan has been named senior consultant at InfoPartners (Nashville), a healthcare information systems management and consulting firm. Prior to joining InfoPartners, Sullivan served as an information systems auditor for Covenant Health.
• Michael Ball has been appointed vice president of business process consulting for Phase Forward (Waltham, Massachusetts), a developer of Internet-based electronic systems for collection of clinical trial data. Ball was previously vice president of international sales for Software House.
• Bob Nager has been promoted from director of product development to vice president of product management for Systems Xcellence (Milton, Ontario, Canada), a developer of electronic transaction healthcare solutions.
