Eclipsys to pay $25 million for Intelus, Med Data Systems
A Healthcare InfoTech Staff Report
Eclipsys (Delray Beach, FL), a provider of outcomes-focused healthcare IT services and solutions, has entered into an agreement to acquire Intelus and Med Data Systems, both wholly owned subsidiaries of SunGard Data Systems (Wayne, PA).
Eclipsys will pay $25 million for the companies, with the transactions expected to close by the end of this month. The companies have received notice of early termination under the Hart-Scott-Rodino Antitrust Improvements Act.
The two companies offer leading-edge document imaging technology and workflow solutions, and they will thus expand the Eclipsys Sunrise suite of products, according to Eclipsys Chairman and CEO Harvey Wilson.
"They not only bring superior imaging and document management technology for all aspects of the healthcare enterprise, but their focus on workflow enhancement complements the Eclipsys goal of working with our customers to improve mission critical outcomes," Wilson said. "Eclipsys is getting tremendous value in this acquisition relative to what Intelus and Med Data add to our organization."
The document management and workflow automation products from Intelus and Med Data include: ChartFlo 2000, an integrated, enterprise-wide health information management system; CDM 2000, a clinical data management workflow solution; AccountFlo 2000 which provides imaging and workflow solutions for patient accounts; Enterprise 2000, which provides imaging and workflow solutions for purchasing, accounts payable and human resources; and, Medrec II, a fully integrated chart management product for the acute and ambulatory care marketplaces.
"We are pleased and excited to become a part of Eclipsys," said Howard Tischler, president of Intelus. "We know our products and services will strengthen Eclipsys’ position as The Outcomes Company. Not only do our products complement one another, but our customer base is complementary as well. We look forward to bringing the benefits of Sunrise to our customers and continue to work with them now and into the future.'"
Eclipsys provides integrated information software and service solutions to the healthcare industry, designed to help clients improve clinical, administrative and financial outcomes.
The company’s new Sunrise product line is a multi-tiered, browser-enabled suite of rules-oriented applications that provide real-time clinical decision support and emphasize direct physician knowledge-based order entry.
Sunrise also supports managed care and multi-entity processing for IHN integrated combined business offices and its services include outsourcing, remote processing and networking services.
