• Dendrite International (Morristown, NJ) said its SalesPlus Amer icas division has signed a licensing agreement with Allergan (Irvine, CA), a global healthcare company, to provide software and support services for Allergan’s multi-disciplinary North American sales representatives. Covering 330 reps, the contract calls for Dendrite to supply Allergan’s five discrete sales teams with SalesPlus software and services. SalesPlus, the new division of Dendrite for mid-sized pharmaceutical and biotech companies in the U.S., offers focused tools to configure and deliver sales force effectiveness systems in faster timeframes. Allergan markets to more than 100 countries.
• DynCorp (Reston, VA), a technology and outsourcing services company, said that its Healthcare Information Technology Services group has been awarded a Program Safeguard Contract from the Health Care Financing Administration’s (HCFA; Baltimore). As part of HCFA’s Medicare Integrity Program, DynCorp will conduct medical review, cost report audits, data analysis, provider education and utilization assessments. The company will deliver information technologies to improve workflow management, as well as problem identifiers for the detection of potential fraud and abuse.
• e-MedSoft.com (Los Angeles) said that First In te grated Health (FIH; Torrance, CA) has completed the review phase of adopting the e-MedSoft.com system and is ready to begin implementation. During the review phase, FIH evaluated the e-MedSoft.com system to ensure that the system could fully support FIH’s range of business activities and services. Upon completion of the review, FIH extended the term of the agreement relating to the e-MedSoft.com system to 12 years. e-MedSoft.com and FIH also have formed an agreement under which e-MedSoft.com will engage in certain joint marketing efforts with FIH to further FIH’s business objectives and increase its revenues. e-MedSoft.com will receive a specified percentage of the revenue generated by FIH through these joint marketing efforts, over and above a specified base. First Integrated Health’s customer base encompasses HMOs, PPOs, IPAs and self-funded employer groups. FIH also contracts with providers through its own multistate exclusive provider network that includes more than 50 hospitals in California and approximately 35,000 physicians nationwide.
• NDC Health Information Services (Atlanta), an Internet health information company, has been selected to process, edit and transmit claims to payers for Hillcrest HealthCare System (HHS; Tulsa, OK). Hillcrest Medical Center and Children’s Medical Center already use NDC’s Premis system to process, edit and transmit claims to payers. HHS has expanded its partnership with NDC to include business office collection functions and managed care contract audits. NDC will provide accounts receivable processes for the two medical centers. NDC also will provide products and services ensuring HMC’s reimbursement from managed care organizations.
• Quality Care Solutions (QCSI; Phoenix) has signed a multi-year agreement with Kachina Administrative Services (Tucson, AZ) to provide solutions and via the QMACS application-hosting platform. Under the agreement, QCSI will provide QMACS application hosting and support services over a virtual network to Kachina offices in Tucson. QMACS is a multi-tiered client-server based product using Microsoft BackOffice technology. It provides integrated healthcare administration functions for indemnity and managed care organizations, including claims adjudication and payment processing, member and enrollment management, provider fee for service and capitation administration, medical management, electronic data interface, and rich reporting capabilities.
