• Researchers from McGill University in Toronto have found that stroke survivors may recuperate better if they leave the hospital as soon as they’re stable and receive therapy at home. The researchers, using a health measurement scale, followed 58 patients who received four weeks of care at home and compared them with 56 stroke survivors who underwent four weeks of rehab at a hospital or community health center. The stroke survivors, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, had been randomly assigned to receive either care at the hospital or home care. The researchers found, three months later, that patients who received home rehabilitation scored 5 points higher on the health scale, which the researchers said was a "clinically meaningful" benefit.
