Year 2000 Resources
Year 2000 Resources
Here are some resources that could be helpful to hospitals preparing for the year 2000 changeover:
· Rx2000 Solutions Institute.
This nonprofit organization based in Minneapolis is creating a Supplier Information Clearinghouse listing technology companies that serve hospitals, noting their preparedness for the year 2000.
The institute also provides articles, presentations, and other educational information on the issue. The information is available on the institute's Web site at: http://www.Rx2000.org. Or call (612) 835-4478. E-mail: info@ Rx2000.org.
·U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
The FDA has created a Web site providing information on which products are known to be in compliance, or not in compliance, with year 2000. The agency says the list is an attempt to increase information flow and is not a certification of equipment by the federal government. The Web site will attempt to provide updated status reports on medical devices and scientific and biomedical equipment at risk for problems. It also includes a list of commercial off-the-shelf products that can handle 2000 dates. The Web site is: http://www.fda.gov/cdrh/yr2000/ year2000.html.
· Year2000.com Partnership.
This Web site is sponsored by technological consultants and includes considerable general background on the problem, most of it not health care specific. However, the site includes a listing of consulting firms that can help you solve year 2000 problems. The Web site is: http://year2000.com.
· Coopers & Lybrand.
This consulting company has a brochure titled "Diagnostic 2000: Are Your Systems Prepared for the Year 2000?" which is available by calling the company's publication department: (212) 259-1000.
