Health advisory council established
The Washington, DC-based Partnership for Prevention has formed a national Healthy People Business Advisory Council, which will involve the business community in developing and implementing national health promotion and disease prevention policies. The council, whose members include leading companies such as Alco, Kellog Company, Dow Chemical, and Union Pacific Railroad, will make recommendations to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services as that agency develops its Healthy People 2010 set of national health objectives.
"In order to achieve our national health goals, we need the active participation and support of the business community," notes Jordan Richland, president of the Partnership for Prevention. "The establishment of the Healthy People Business Advisory Council represents a significant first step toward gaining that participation and support."
