• Russell Joyner has been named chief information officer of AmeriChoice (Vienna, VA). He will be responsible for the company’s information technology and MIS functions and be the primary liaison with the company’s information and data processing subsidiary, Information Network (Phoenix). Joyner previously was senior director of management and information systems at NYL Care Health Plans of the Mid-Atlantic. AmeriChoice owns and operates health plans in New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania and provides health plan contract management and physician practice management services.• Margaret Harris has been named chief financial officer of e-MedSoft.com (Los Angeles), formerly known as MedTech. Harris previously was vice president of finance for American Medical International. The Java solution e-MedSoft.com, developed by HealthMed and Sanga Inter national, is a subscription-based healthcare management system available for delivery through the Internet.
• Patrick Artinoff has been named to head the newly formed Impax Solutions Group of Agfa-Gevaert’s Medical Imaging Business Group (Mortsel, Belgium). Since 1997, Artinoff has been vice president, technical imaging systems, for Agfa Canada and was previously national healthcare manager for Canada at Digital Equipment Corp. To be based in Toronto, the Impax Solutions Group is responsible for global planning, marketing and delivery of Agfa’s PACS networks, used in the high-speed digital storage, display, transmission, and printing of medical images.
• Kevin Mitchell has been appointed senior vice president of sales and marketing for Medirisk (Atlanta), a provider of proprietary healthcare database products and decision-support software and services. Mitchell most recently served as president of O’PIN Systems, a subsidiary of United HealthCare.
• Micheline Rene, vice president of finance and administration for MediSolution (Toronto) has been named interim executive vice president and CFO, replacing George Czubak, who has resigned. MediSolution is a healthcare IT company.
• George Lundberg, MD, has been named editor in chief of Medscape (New York), an information web site for physicians. Lundberg was previously the editor of the Journal of the American Medical Association and was fired in a dispute over editorial policy.
• Bob Nagar has been promoted from director of product development to vice president of product management for Systems Xcellence (Milton, Ontario), a supplier of patient-center electronic transaction systems.
