• Captiva Software (San Diego) has introduced ClaimPack, a scalable medical claim module for its FormWare forms processing and document capture product line. The module enables healthcare and insurance companies to scan HCFA 1500 and UB92 forms into Claimpack. The software automatically reads, analyzes, corrects, validates and exports the information into workflow, document and database management systems, reducing data entry time and expense.
• Diversified Pharmaceutical Services (Minneapolis) has introduced its InformRx:Proact reporting system, an online management tool to diagnoses and monitors drug trend cost drivers. Proact collects complex pharmacy data,summarizes it, then prioritizes it according to greatest financial impact.
• Enterworks (Ashburn, VA), a provider of software for enabling the virtual enterprise, is extending its reach into the healthcare market with a data integration solution built on its Virtual DB flagship product, coupled with a set of consulting services.
• Health Hero Network (Mountain View, CA) has introduced its flagship product, the Health Hero Network Online Service. The service is a two-way communications link between healthcare providers and patients, enabling providers to identify serious situations sooner and focus care on those who need it most.
• HealthWeb Systems, a TriZetto Group (Newport Beach, CA) company, has begun shipping release 2.0 of its Managed Care Integration System (MCIS). Using Windows NT servers, MCIS 2.0 links users with the data stored in a health plan’s existing management system. MCIS 2.0 is part of a suite of solutions available from the TriZetto Group, including Plan Manager, a turnkey outsourced managed care information system; Data Manager, a warehouse solution for information access and reporting; and Exchange Manager, a set of programs for electronic communications and data transfer. The TriZetto Group also said it is offering Virtual Private Networks (VPNs) to small- and mid-sized healthcare organizations as part of its Desktop and Network Infrastructure service offerings. The company said the VPN is "a cost-effective alternative to traditional Wide Area Network technologies for multi-site healthcare enterprises."
• HSS Inc. (Hamden, CT) has introduced APC Diagnostic Review, a package of analytic, audit and education services which addresses the new Medicare outpatient prospective payment system mandated by the Health Care Financing Administration. The APC Diagnostic Review will include training health information management and other hospital staff in the Ambulatory Payment Classification System and new coding requirements. HSS is a provider of medical intelligence software for coding, reimbursement and profiling of healthcare services.
• Medirisk (Atlanta) has launched HealthcareMail.com, a free e-mail service for medical and healthcare professionals. Medirisk is a provider of proprietary database products, decision-support software and analytical services to the healthcare industry
• PricewaterhouseCoopers (West Hartford, CT) has introduced an integrated database marketing solution for the managed care industry. The solution is intended to help health insurers and managed care organizations to better manage their marketing and customer retention programs. It includes both technology and consulting components. The client/server-based solution is modular and developed on an open architecture so it can be customized and quickly deployed to meet a customer’s specific requirements and needs.
