•Eastman Software (Billerica, MA), a supplier of work management software, said that the U.S. Depart ment of Health and Human Services (HHS), in collaboration with Prescience Systems, will use Eastman Software Work Management for Microsoft Exchange to implement a broad-based, executive-level document management solution for the Immediate Office of the Secretary. Called SWIFT (for Strategic Work Information and Folder Transfer), the new system will use the Eastman technology to fulfill the program and policy missions of the department. The electronic records management and archiving strategy is supportive of the federal initiative to reduce, and eventually eliminate, paper-based records, and will comply with standards established by the National Archives and Records Administration.
• Emerson Hospital (Concord, MA) and First Consulting Group (FCG; Long Beach, CA) have signed an agreement under which First Consulting will assume responsibility for managing Emerson’s information systems and telecommunications functions. FCG will manage the hospital’s applications, technical services, data center operations and help desk services. Representing FCG’s second significant outsourcing contract, this agreement is for an initial three-year period, with an option for renewal on a year-to-year basis thereafter. Other terms of the agreement were not released. Emerson Hospital is an independent, non-profit organization, providing medical and surgical services, pediatrics, obstetrics/gynecology, psychiatry and 24-hour emergency services.
• MasFirstSense Software (Burlington, MA) a provider of applications performance and service-level management software, has announced the integration of its new end-user application, Health View, with Computer Associates International’s (Islandia, NY) Unicenter TNG. The FirstSense enterprise end-user application Health View for Unicenter TNG provides tools for viewing application health. And it gives IT organizations the ability to monitor and manage application performance and availability from the end-users’ vantage point, directly from the Unicenter TNG Real World Interface, and to apply comprehensive management policies for all business-critical applications. HCI Technologies (Reston, VA), a telecommunications and information management consulting company, assisted FirstSense with the Unicenter TNG integration.
• Netsmart Technologies (Islip, NY) said that its wholly owned subsidiary, Creative Socio-Medics (CSM), has signed a multi-year contract to supply the State of Arizona’s Department of Health Services (DHS) a system structured on CSM’s Windows-based Behavioral Health care Information System, Clinician Work station, and Decision Support System suite of products. The Arizona State Hospital (ASH) is part of the Division of Behavioral Health Services, in the department of health services. The base value of the contract is $360,000.
• Sequencia (Phoenix) has completed implementation of RSBatch, Rockwell Software’s OEM version of Sequencia’s OpenBatch recipe management software for ChiRex (Annan, Scotland). ChiRex manufactures FDA-registered bulk pharmaceuticals. ChiRex has commissioned two different processes in addition to a solvent recovery system with two additional processes scheduled for commissioning this year. The engineering design and software implementation were developed through Aston Dane plc (Widnes, England).
