•Analogic (Peabody, MA) has released a new option designed to help radiology administrators manage workflow and reduce errors. The Integrated ID Gateway Option automatically matches images to patient data, eliminating data entry tasks and potential errors. The company also has released a DICOM software option for the SuperDASM 200 and 400 systems that opens proprietary legacy imaging modalities to the DICOM network. The software combines optical character recognition and an interface to Mitra’s HIS/RIS broker with Analogic’s DICOM Storage and Print SCU software to provide DICOM Secondary Capture Storage/Print SCU.
• Bovie Medical (Mellville, NY) has launched an e-commerce site at www.eBovie.com. The company engineers, designs, and manufactures electrosurgical medical products.
• Entelos (Menlo Park, CA) plans to release this summer its Entelos Asthma PhysioLab and Enterlos Obesity PhysioLab products. The disease-modeling systems are quantitative models of human physiology that provide researchers and clinicians with a new tool for testing hypotheses, organizing scientific and clinical data, and conducting virtual experiments. The company has named Kevin Bowling as vice president of software engineering to manage the ramp-up of the products.
• Mayo Clinic HealthQuest (Rochester, MN) has launched an online program to provide employees of companies throughout the U.S. with daily updated health information to support corporate wellness programs. Among the first companies to deploy this new service will be Dow-Corning, General Mills, Intel, Lucent Technologies and Texas Instruments, according to Mayo Clinic. "We anticipate that Mayo Clinic Health Quest Online will be an effective means to re-engineer the delivery of health promotion services to our employees," said Marti Maxwell, manager, Health Promotion, Dow-Corning
• Medical Information Management Systems (Nash ville) has launched Internet Medical Record Access Card, a service that allows emergency access and update capability to a patient’s medical record via the Internet. The service is designed to facilitate the exchange of medical information between a patient’s primary care physician and an emergency medical caregiver. Access to the service is available only to physicians using MEDICAL PEARLS, a secure area available on AOL Enterprise, and at www.mimscorp.com.
• Medisys Technologies (Baton Rogue, LA) is launch ing an enhanced web site for taking e-commerce orders for its nutraceutical and medical device products. The Website will allow customers to place orders through a link to Yahoo’s shopping site. The ordering system is similar those used by Amazon.com, Onsale.com, and other major e-commerce sites. Medisys manufactures more than 350 nutraceutical and over-the-counter drug products for more than 100 companies that market to major food, drug, health, and wellness chains throughout the U.S. and overseas. Medisys also has announced plans to acquire a $5 million specialty wholesale marketing company that specializes in marketing to pharmacies.
• ThinkMed (Milwaukee) has launched a new on-line resource called Linkmed to support health care professionals with the development and deployment of care management initiatives. Available at www.thinkmed.com, Linkmed is a compilation of more than 125 web sites that serve as resources for planning, implementing and evaluating care management programs and strategy. Linkmed sites are grouped by categories including: Health & Medical SuperSites, Disease- and Condition-Specific Resources, Government Sites, The Business of Healthcare, Associations/Conference Opportunities and Trade Publications. ThinkMed develops population health management software that identifies, stratifies and profiles patients who are at risk for clinical deterioration, financial escalation and/or increased utilization. Care management professionals use ThinkMed Expert for ready desktop access to this centralized data.
